Let me explain to you why I absolutely love NLP.
For several years, I have attracted clients into my practice who have been suffering from debilitating stress, anxiety, phobias and / or enagaging in self sabotaging behaviours. In other words they have felt “STUCK”. Many have seen other therapists in the past and have walked away from those therapies feeling as though they had gone around in circles. You may have heard of the phrase “analysis paralysis”. It is the state of being in therapy for years and having your childhood analysed to death, so much so that not only are you still stuck in the past, but now you are bored too! Well, that’s where NLP comes in. It is quick, effective and the results are often seen immediately. I will forever be thankful to my dear friend Georgina who introduced me to the wonderful world of NLP (Neuro- Linguistic Programming).
NLP is the study of excellence. Be it the way outstanding individuals run their lives successfully or the way successful organizations, navigate their way seamlessly through difficult business decisions to get first class results.
This is the process of ‘modelling’. Why invent the wheel when others are already doing and achieving what it is you are seeking. In order to model, NLP studies how we structure our subjective experience. In other words how we think about our values and beliefs and how we create our emotional states. It also looks at how we construct our internal world from our previous experiences and give it meaning. Put simply, this powerful modality really gets to the core, bringing about effective change in your mindset.
Depending on what we focus on in our daily lives and the meaning we give these events, will determine the emotional states we are in and ultimately the decisions we make, good or bad.
So in short, NLP is a cool modality packed with powerful tools, some of which are practical, others are hypnotic in nature, and they all serve to help you move quickly and effectively through emotional baggage. No boredom, no need for years of therapy, and the techniques are easy and based on curiosity, exploration and fun.
